Why Parents Chose Wah Mei School

I have been a Wah Mei School parent for almost 8 years and am a current board member for the past six years. My two older children have attended WMS and my youngest child is currently enrolled in the Panda Bears Class at Wah Mei. I have been very happy with the education that they have received over the years. The teachers and staff are very attentive to each child; they are focused on each child as an individual and provide a wonderful bilingual Chinese/English program for the children. It's amazing to see that at almost 3 years old, these children learn to speak and sing in the Chinese language as well as in the English language. I have recommended Wah Mei School over the years to friends and family and have always regarded this preschool very highly. I feel that WMS is the best foundation to a child's early education because of its interesting and educational curriculum, the nurturing staff and teachers that have remained with the school for many years, and the tremendous amount of dedication and loyalty Wah Mei School parents and staff (past and present) have had over the years.

2. Bilingual program.
3. Friendly staff who really care.

Reasonable tuition fee and close to home made WMS my top choice (my only choice). I was really happy when my child was accepted.

Before choosing WMS, I surveyed and visited between 15 and 20 schools, most of them Cantonese bilingual programs. I felt that Wah Mei was the best combination of everything I was looking for in a preschool. In no particular order, my checklist looked like this: Friendly/nurturing atmosphere (teachers who were kind and seemed to love kids); long hours to accommodate my busy work schedule; a low child-to-teacher ratio; hot lunches; a "real" bilingual program (as opposed to other schools that had an unstructured day, but had 2 or 3 Chinese-speaking teachers on staff); an outdoor play area; and a reasonable monthly tuition.

I chose Wah Mei because of the excellent bilingual education program. I wanted a school that spoke and taught Cantonese as well as English. From past students who have attended the school, I was told of many good things about the teaching staff at Wah Mei. Having had two of my children at Wah Mei, one current and one graduated, I am very pleased with all the school has to offer.
