Wah Mei School is a bilingual Chinese/English preschool that promotes the integration of Chinese and American cultures. The school recognizes the unique strengths of each child and is committed to meeting the needs of the children and their families. The position of the Substitute Teacher is based on the needs of the program. It can be on an on-call basis, short term or long term, part time or full time.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with curriculum and daily activities.
2. Implement curriculum plans that include a wide range of small group activities
that are culturally and developmentally appropriate in all developmental areas.
3. Provide an appropriate language role model, either in English or Chinese.
4. Assist with supervision of children's activities, transition periods, meal
time, nap time and clean up time.
5. Assist with the compiling and maintenance of students' portfolios.
6. Enforce safety rules in indoor and outdoor activities.
7. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Prior work experience with young children in a childcare setting.
2. Possession of at least 3 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
from an accredited college or university, or proof of current enrollment in
ECE courses.
3. Ability to work in a team setting.
4. Fluency in either English or Chinese.
5. Sensitivity to the needs of children from a diverse ethnic background.
6. Proof of clearance of health screening(including TB test) and Fingerprinting
(LiveScan or Department of Justice and FBI).

Salary will be based on qualifications. Career advancement into full time regular
